REVIEW OF FIRE SERVICE IN BLACKPOOL RELEASED
Posted Saturday, 21 November 2009
The results of a review of the fire service cover across Blackpool have been released and changes could be brought in.
84 jobs could go under the plan, as people aren't replaced when they retire, and the rest will be paid for doing longer hours.
The savings should reach £2.4 million according to Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.
The brigade has also agreed not to replace one of the fire engines at Blackpool with a smaller unit.
The proposals are being put to firefighters in December.
