Radio Wave and St Paul's Medical Centre on Dickson Road, Blackpool have teamed up to highlight the health checks available including Blood Pressure, Smears and Diabetes.

 

BLOOD PRESSURE 

St Paul's Medical Centre are offering a NHS Health Check if you're aged between 40 and 74.

In the UK, there are around 13 million people with raised blood pressure;

And about 6 million of those don't know they have it.

Left untreated raised blood pressure can cause heart attacks and strokes

You would not normally get any symptoms with raised blood pressure, and that's why it's important to get it checked.

St Paul's is the only General Practice in the heart of the North Shore are and accept new patients from the Blackpool Area

SMEARS

At St Paul's, we care about those females who every three years chose not to have their smears.

A smear is not looking for Cancer, but for early changes at the neck of the womb.

The overwhelming majority of tests are normal

And the few that are abnormal are nearly always treatable

If everyone who was eligible came for a smear, nearly all deaths from cervical cancer could be prevented.

DIABETES

In the UK there are around 3 million people with Diabetes;

And around half a million of those who don't know they have the condition.

If left untreated, Diabetes can cause heart, kidney and eye problems amongst others.

You may not have any symptoms with Diabetes, and that is why it is important to be tested or it as part of this health check; it's a simple blood test.
