Blackpool council leader reveals cuts in services

Friday, October 12th 2012 01:00

Simon Blackburn tells Radio Wave's Andy Mitchell that cuts to jobs and services are on the cards as the authority struggles to make more savings.

The council leader says serious talks are underway to work out exactly which services should be cut.

Some Blackpool council services could be handed to the private sector to make more savings for the winter.

Adult social care could be in the firing line but children's services are protected by the recent OFSTED inspection.

Services such as grass cutting could be done by volunteers and the council leader admits it stems from David Cameron's "Big Society."
