Art and Design students from Blackpool Sixth Form opened the Young at Art Exhibition and Fashion Show at Blackpool Sixth earlier this week.

Artwork from students studying Fine Art, Textiles, Fashion, Graphic Design and Photography was displayed to the art and design lovers from the Fylde Coast and beyond as students from Blackpool Sixth Form continue to impress with their creative and artistic skills.

At the event it was announced that Jake Crooks, who studies BTEC Art and Design, has won the Sand Sea and Spray Competition with his graffiti stamp piece. As a result, Jake, along with fellow art students Sophie Bursnoll, Katie Lock and Dan Atton, have been invited to the prestigious London Art Fair 2013. London Art Fair presents over 100 galleries featuring the great names of 20th century British art and exceptional contemporary work from leading figures and emerging talent.

Hilary Alcock, the Chair of the Fylde Decorative and Fine Arts Society, chose a range of pieces to exhibit in next year's Booths Gallery Exhibition in Lytham St Annes – which each year showcases artwork from students across the Fylde Coast.

Laura Fiddes, a Graphic Design Tutor at Blackpool Sixth Form, states, "The Young at Art Exhibition provides a platform for students to showcase their artistic and creative talents. It gives them a real confidence boost and a taste of what it will be like in their future careers."

"I am really pleased for all the students that took part. Being involved in the exhibition provides essential experience which is needed for university and employment within the industry."
