Images released today show how Blackpool's new £25m museum could look if Lottery funding is secured.
The council have submitted an application for £15m to go towards the project.
The museum, which will be inside the Winter Gardens, will showcase Blackpool's history and will be filled with artefacts, film, music and performance.
It will also be a major visitor attraction and will act as a central point, signposting people to other heritage sites within the town.
A planning application has now been lodged setting out full details of the scheme, along with an application for listed building consent.
If successful the project aims to create around 40 full time jobs.
The proposed timescale for the opening of the museum is summer 2020.
