Copper theif steals from Thornton church

A man got stole £1,000 worth of copper sheeting from church roof.

Police are appealing for information following the theft of copper from a church in Thornton.

The incident took place in the early hours of Wednesday 4th July between 1:15am and 3:20am at the Christ Church on Meadows Avenue.

The offender has climbed onto the roof and stolen copper sheeting worth around £1,000. He has been captured on CCTV and officers have released images to see if the public recognise the man.

PC Emma McClaren from Cleveleys Police said, "I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV to come forward and contact the police.

"This crime has cost the church money and the person responsible needs to be caught and brought to justice.”

Anyone with information is asked to call the Cleveleys Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
