Direct trains to London

Blackpool's to get its long awaited direct train service to London now First Group have been named to take over the West Coast Mainline.

Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group have now lost the right to run the route to the capital.

First are expected to take over the running of the line before Christmas.

Tourism bosses are welcoming the return of the direct link with London and reckon it will help boost Tourism and Business.

However, it all depends on when the electrification of the Preston to Blackpool line will be completed.

Critics claim there won't be many direct trains, and we should wait to see the timetable before getting excited.
