Fleetwood drug dealers jailed

Friday, July 20th 2012 01:00

THREE people involved in a heroin drug dealing ring in Fleetwood have been jailed for a total of four years eight months.

36-year-old Jon Clark, 36-year-old Stuart McBride and 22-year-old Melissa Martin were all arrested during Operation Nimrod raids carried out in the town in February.

Nimrod is a nationally acclaimed force-wide operation dedicated to tackling drug-related crime right across the county.

As part of the operation, warrants were executed at a number of addresses in Fleetwood during two days of action which followed a lengthy undercover investigation.

Appearing at Preston Crown Court today (Friday 20 July 2012), Clark, of Martindale Avenue, was jailed for 16 months for supplying heroin and offering to supply heroin.

Martin, of Martindale Avenue, Fleetwood, was jailed for two years for offering to supply heroin and three counts of supplying heroin.

McBride, of Croft Court, Fleetwood, appeared at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday 19 July where he was jailed for 16 months for supplying heroin and three counts of being concerned in the supply of heroin.

Five people have already been jailed for a total of 13 years and six months as a result of the operation.

Detective Chief Inspector Vicki Evans, Fleetwood police, said: "Operation Nimrod shows the public that we are committed to taking class A drugs off our streets. Once our investigations are complete we carry out high profile raids so that residents can see we are taking action, and addresses are plastered with posters announcing that a drugs raid has been carried out at the address.

"These latest sentences show the consequences that a criminal faces if they try to blight our streets with their illegal drug dealing. Three people are now behind bars and our communities are safer for it.”
