Fred hits back at Prom hopes

Monday, October 29th 2012 00:00

Hopes that the Council will put Central Promenade back the way it was appear to have been dashed.

Blackpool's Central Promenade won't be returned to its original layout anytime soon despite the hopes of some of the town's cabbies.

That's what Fred Jackson at the Council says....he claims its working well as it is.... despite long queues building up throughout the day.

Listeners have called Radio Wave to say journey times between Central Pier and Talbot Square are taking up to 45 minutes, whilst the bus services are being disrupted with claims a round journey on the Number 1 from the Pleasure Beach to The Cabin is taking drivers up to 2 hours.

Now the situation is set to get worse as work starts on narrowing Central Drive near Reads Avenue......a way of by passing the chaos on the Prom by using Chapel Street at Central Pier instead of getting caught in the queues.

Deputy Leader Fred Jackson though is fending off the critics and says he has no plans to speed things up again on Central Prom.
