Hollywood comes to Blackpool for Tim Burton film

A film being partly produced in Blackpool next month is being directed by Hollywood's Tim Burton.

Production will take place in May and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Judi Dench, Rupert Everett, Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Ella Purnell, Chris O'Dowd, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp and Kim Dickens.

Fox UK Productions Ltd released this statement:

"We are delighted to announce that Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is filming in Blackpool for two weeks from the 1st May.  Blackpool Tower and the Arena have starring roles in the film and the production feels very privileged to be given permission to film there. The production would like to thank the town of Blackpool for their understanding in advance of any inconvenience we may cause during the two week shoot. With so much to do in such a short window of time, the set will be closed to press at this time, but we look forward to sharing the film with the people of Blackpool in early 2016."

Part of central promeade may be shut off to traffic and pedestrians during filming.
