Friday, October 19th 2012 01:00

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Blackpool.

The incident happened at around 3:00am on Thursday 23rd August on Queen Street where it meets Abingdon Street.

A 26 year old local man was talking to a woman when he was approached by three men. One of the men elbowed him in the offence causing him to fall to the ground before all three men started kicking him. They then left the scene in the direction of Dickson Road laughing.

The injured man was taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Officers have released three CCTV images of men they would like to speak to in connection with this incident.

The first man is described as white and around 5’ 6” tall with a slim build, short brown hair and was wearing a white t shirt. The second man was around 18 years old, had a large build, dark hair and was wearing a blue t shirt. The third man was in his late teens with a slim build and was wearing a blue tracksuit.

PC Mark Postlethwaite from Blackpool police said, "I would appeal to anyone who recognises these men to come forward and contact the police. This is a nasty incident that has left a man requiring hospital treatment.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Blackpool Police on 101.

People with information can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
