Police are appealing for witnesses after a man robbed a grocery store in Bispham at knifepoint.
The incident happened on Tuesday 30th October just before 9:00pm at the Spar store on Kincraig Road in Bispham.
The man, thought to be in his 30's, entered the store as a prospective customer and made his way to the checkout. He has then asked for a packet of tobacco and as the cashier walks away, the robber enters the till area brandishing a knife and instructs the cashier to open the till before making off with a quantity of cash and the tobacco.
CCTV images have been released of a man and police are asking for witnesses to come forward.
He is described as white and around 6ft to 6ft 1in with a proportionate build. He was wearing a long sleeved dark coloured waterproof jacket with the hood pulled up, dark coloured jeans and a dark scarf covering the bottom half of his face. He is described as having a noticeably large nose and looks as if it has previously been broken.
Detective Sergeant Nick Connaughton from Blackpool CID said, "The CCTV is of good quality and I would ask the public to look at the images and see if they recognise the man.
"I would also appeal to anyone who was in the Kincraig Road area of Bispham at around 9:00pm to try and recall whether they saw anyone acting in a suspicious manner. Maybe they saw someone running away from the Spar shop. Even the smallest pieces of information could prove crucial as we try and find this man.
"Fortunately, the cashier was not injured but clearly, being threatened with a knife is a traumatic experience. We need to find the person responsible and I would appeal for anyone with information to come forward by call Blackpool CID on 101.”
