Sunday, September 23rd 2012 01:00

Man killed in Poulton has been named as 35 year old Paul Brindle

A man who was found dead in a street after being killed in a road traffic accident in Poulton has been named as 35 year old Paul Brindle.

He was found in the road on Oldfield Carr Lane at around 1am on Friday 21st September after walking home from a charity event.

The 35 year old had suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead on his arrival at Blackpool Victoria Hospital.

A 29 year old man from Blackpool has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A 38 year old man from Poulton and a 33 year old man from Thornton, who were in police custody, have been released without charge.

In a statement, Paul's family have paid tribute to him:

"Paul was a much loved son and brother but above all, he'd want to be remembered as fantastic father to his two children. We will not rest until we see the person who took him from us brought to justice. We're not sure we will ever come to terms with losing him so cruelly, but we'd appeal for privacy so we can at least try."

Chief Inspector Pete Simm from the Force Major Investigation Team said: "Paul had been walking home down a quiet lane after attending a charity duck shoot nearby.

"We are trying to piece together the sequence of events that led up to Paul's death and a large part of this enquiry is to speak with all the people that were in attendance at this event so I would appeal to these people or anyone with any information that could assist with our investigation to come forward and contact police.”

Anyone with information can contact Lancashire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
