Lancashire Fire and Rescue have spoken out about the dangers of arson attacks.
Crews from Blackpool and Bispham attended a large number of bin fires in the Grange Park Area last night.
9 fires were extinguished in total using hose reels from the fire appliances.
One of the bin fires spread to a building fire and was very close to a gas main.
Another was very close to a van on Park View.
A large number of the fires were in the Forshaw Avenue area.
At one point an explosion was heard which we can only assume to be an aerosol from one of the bins.
A Spokesperson for Lancashire Fire and Rescue said:
"This obviously causes a serious risk to Firefighters attending to extinguish the fires.
Please consider moving your bins back into your property and locking them away whenever possible.
Remove any loose refuse away from your premises as this can be an ideal ignition source for arsonists."
South Shore Fire Crews had to be drafted into Blackpool Fire Station to provide fire cover as Blackpool and Bispham appliances were engaged on this incident for a considerable amount of time.
