Race to reopen Blackpool soup kitchen

Amazing Graze, have just over two weeks to get their new building finished.

Volunteers at Amazing Graze dish out between 80-90 meals a night to some of Blackpool's most vulnerable people.

For the last four years, they've offered showers, clothes, and other essential items three nights a week.

Earlier in the year they were asked to leave their premises on Boothley Road so repair work could take place.

After searching for somewhere new to set up they came across an old baptist church on Bolton Street and were offered the ground floor.

An appeal was launched for local tradespeople to come and help out and volunteer their time to get the build finished a soon as possible.

Celebrities such as Comedian Hugh Dennis and Actor John Thompson got involved online sharing the plea.

Radio Wave asked the people of Blackpool Wyre and Fylde for plumber to come and finish installing some of their new appliances.

Local plumber Steve Nuttall turned up at our studios that morning and was working on site the same day.

Founder of Amazing Graze Mark Butcher said:

"Steve and his brother Mark, well those two guys have come in and just connected all the gas and we got the gas almost connected and the radiators going in tomorrow."

He hopes the kitchen will be ready to open by Friday 1st March.
