The Fleetwood MP says a strong future for UK fishing post Brexit is vital for the town.
The issue has been discussed in parliament this week.
Cat Smith says many jobs in the port still rely on the industry.
She said: ''MPs have debated the future of UK fishing and what this might look like outside the Common Fisheries Policy.
''In my four minutes I set out the case for requiring UK quota to be landed in UK ports, which would support more jobs in coastal communities like Fleetwood. I also made the point that quota needs to be redistributed to smaller boats (the under 10s) who support more local jobs and that support for fishermen’s safety will be paramount if we are to see the revival of fishing on our islands.
''It was a lot to get into four minutes, but I hope the Minister now knows more about what Fleetwood might have to benefit from a Fisheries Bill being done in the right way.''
