Around 60 firefighters have been tackling a large blaze at a block of flats in Lytham St Annes overnight.
Ten appliances and two aerial ladder platforms are being used at the building on North Promenade.
All residents were safely evacuated after the fire broke out shortly after 11pm last night.
People in the locality are advised to close windows as a precaution and avoid the roads nearby if travelling.
A spokesperson said: ''On arrival they found the fire involved a domestic property in a block of flats. They found that the fire was spreading from a flat on the third floor to the second and increased the number of fire engines at the scene to 10 and two Aerial Ladder Platforms (ALPs). Four firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reels and one jet to tackle the fire prior to the ALPs arriving. All residents were safely evacuated.
''Crews wearing breathing apparatus are also being used to bring the fire under control. To help prevent the fire from spreading to the neighbouring property firefighters have partially removed roof tiles. Firefighting is still ongoing.''
