Fleetwood man accused of causing death by dangerous driving

A man has made his first appearance at court charged with causing the death by dangerous driving of a Fleetwood woman.

Leon Kay is alleged to have driven his three litre BMW car on Station Road ,Fleetwood near the junction of Amounderness Way.

The car hit a parked vehicle and that vehicle then hit two women as they made their way home from Barney’s Bingo hall.

Lynne McDermott died from her injuries received in the incident on February 2 this year.Her friend is still in hospital.

The women  are aged  56 and 57.

Kay of  Bayside, Fleetwood is also charged with drink driving and  driving dangerously.

District Judge Jane Goodwin sent  him for trial at Preston Crown Court where he will appear On March 6.

She remanded him in custody.
