The next phase of major work on the Norcross roundabout begins from today.
The £5m project to improve traffic flow along the A585, sees the southern section of Fleetwood Road South closed until mid-October – that’s the stretch between the roundabout and Castle Gardens at Carleton.
The closure is 24 hours a day and a signposted diversion is in place, although Amounderness Way will remain open at all times.
Bus services are also affected.
The work will increase the size of the roundabout, widen the approaches to the junction and see the installation of new traffic lights. Safety will be further improved with the introduction of signal controlled pedestrian crossing points. It’s hoped the improvements at Norcross roundabout will reduce congestion as well as supporting future developments and predicted traffic growth. This improvement scheme is part of the Government’s £220 million Congestion Relief Fund aimed at cutting congestion and journey times for motorists and improving safety.
Some bus services in the area will be affected. To minimise disruption, there’s a dedicated bus shuttle service on Fleetwood Road South – Access to the shuttle service will be available from existing bus stops and will provide a service to other bus routes. Additional buses will be available on the number 14 bus route, while additional school buses have also been provided.
A new revised timetable will be displayed at bus stops and for more information please visit www.blackpooltransport.com/norcross-roundabout
