Drivers lose nearly 40 seconds for every mile on average compared to if they'd been moving at the speed limit.

The southbound stretch of Mains Lane between Amounderness Way and Shard Road has the worst delays of any major route in the county, according to the latest government figures.

The situation has improved in the last 12 months however,  with the average speed rising from 27.8mph in 2017 to 32mph last year.

Next year, work will begin on a £100m bypass between the Windy Harbour traffic lights and Skippool, with the aim to ease congestion on Mains Lane.
