School applications open

Applications are open for primary and secondary school places in Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde from today.

They're required for all children with a fourth birthday between now and 31st August 2020, and for children who have started their final year at primary school.

Blackpool primary school applications need to be submitted by January 15th, and secondary by 31st October.

Cllr Kath Benson, Blackpool Council Cabinet Member for Schools, Education and Aspiration, said: "It's a big milestone for children taking their first or next step in education.  All our schools in Blackpool strive to offer the best for their students and aim to provide a good education and I know that they will be looking forward to meeting the new intake.

"We are encouraging parents and carers to submit the forms before the closing date and will try to give people their first preference of school.

"However if we are unable to meet that request because of demand or other factors we will aim to provide a place at one of their top three preferences."

If you live in Blackpool (pay council tax to Blackpool), apply online at www.blackpool.gov.uk/schooladmissions

A paper application is also available from Blackpool Council, Tel: 01253 476637 or email schoolaccess@blackpool.gov.uk

Blackpool Council's Guide for Parents which explains the schools admissions process is also available online and from the council's schools admissions team.

Wyre or Fylde council tax payers will need to apply online at https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/ but can still apply for a Blackpool school.
