Witness appeal after Blackpool robbery

Police are appealing for information after a 59-year-old man was violently attacked and robbed in Blackpool.

Around 12.45am on Friday (November 9th) the victim, from the Blackpool area, was walking on Kent Road.

He turned onto Princess Street and as he approached an alley gate was attacked from behind by another man.

The attacker punched the victim in the head several times before dragging the man to the floor. The offender then kicked the 59-year-old man in the head.

The attacker stole some tobacco, gloves and keys before making off from the scene, with the victim later taken to Blackpool Victoria Hospital for treatment having suffered facial fractures.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his late 20s, of stocky build, wearing a matching grey top and jogging bottoms.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.

PC Laila Turki, of Blackpool Police, said: "This was a violent and unprovoked robbery where an elderly man has been seriously assaulted.

"We are keen to trace any witnesses, in particular anyone in the Princess Street area around the time of the offence who may have seen or heard what happened.

"Any information provided will be treated in the strictest confidence."
