Danny Miller Picks Up Top Honour At The Soap Awards

DANNY DOES THE DOUBLE!

Emmerdale's Danny Miller, and star of The Grand's panto, has won Best Actor at the British Soap Awards for the second year running!

Listen to Ged & Hayley talking to Danny Miller about his soap award

Stockport born Danny Miller played Emmerdale's troubled mechanic Aaron Livesy from 2008-2012. His four years in the show saw him play a key role in some of Emmerdale's most controversial storylines and have culminated in him winning British Soap's Best Actor Award two years in a row – a feat only matched by Martin Kemp (2001/2002) and Shane Richie (2004/2005)

Danny began his acting career with a long running role in Grange Hill, playing Kyle Brown. A year later he took over the part of troubled teenager, Aaron Livesy in Emmerdale – winning huge acclaim for his role in the hit soap.

With leading roles in several controversial storylines Danny fast became a soap favourite. In 2009 Danny won Best Soap Actor at the TV Quick and TV Choice Awards. He also won the 2010 and 2011 Best Actor Awards at the Inside Soap Awards along with the awards for Best Dramatic Performance and the TV Times Awards for Best Newcomer 2010 and Favourite Soap Star 2011. He has also been nominated for Best Actor in the 2012 Inside Soap Awards.

Danny's last scenes as Aaron Livesey were screened in a special, tear-jerking double episode of Emmerdale on Thursday 5th April.

Joining Danny in Cinderella will be Grand favourite and Steve Royle, who returns to the theatre for his tenth consecutive year in panto due to overwhelming popular demand!

In 1996 Steve won the Search for a Star competition at the Talk of the Coast and was voted Critic's Choice at the Showcall Showcase in 1997.

Over the last few years he has entertained the cast of Coronation Street, supported Peter Kay and Joe Pasquale, and appeared in Phoenix Nights, Max and Paddy and Britain's Got the Pop-Factor. He has also performed alongside Rory Bremner, Rik Mayall, Dave Spikey and Ken Dodd.

Steve Royle is a co-founder of the Slaughterhouse-Live (‘Laughter' with an ‘S') character comedy nights. The group regularly perform at The Comedy Store and were nominated for Best Touring Show at the Manchester Comedy Awards, losing to Peter Kay! They've also had successful performances at The Lowry, Salford and a sell out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Channel 5's Milkshake presenter Amy Thompson will be returning to The Grand after starring in their 2010 pantomime Aladdin. She will play Cinderella alongside Radio Wave's Breakfast Show host Hayley Kay who takes on the role of Fairy Godmother.

Cinderella, the most favourite of all fairy tales, is jam-packed with music and dance, fun and laughter, a beautiful girl, a fairy godmother, a handsome prince, a glass slipper and, of course, two ugly sisters! Oh yes it is!

Forced into a life of drudgery by her wicked stepsisters Cinderella dreams of escape and romance. With the help of a Fairy Godmother, a pumpkin and a touch of magic Cinderella is whisked off to the Prince's Ball....but will she live Happily Ever After?

This exciting adaptation of Cinderella is brought to you by Martin Dodd for UK Productions - the company which has presented some of the most critically acclaimed touring musicals in recent years, such as 42nd Street starring Marti Webb and Dave Willetts (at the Grand Theatre this July), Disney's Beauty and the Beast, Anything Goes, Carousel, Seven Brides For Seven Brothers, Fiddler On The Roof starring Joe McGann and Singin' in The Rain starring West End sensation Tim Flavin. UK Productions has also produced pantomimes at Blackpool's Grand Theatre for the past sixteen years.
